Celebration Anaheim: Collectibles Update Panel – Gentle Giant

During the Gentle Giant portion of the Star Wars Celebration Anaheim panel with Anita Castellar, representative Ashly Powell showed a history of Gentle Giant product. Several historical items, including unproduced sculpts, were included in their booth display and are in the photo album.

New announcements during the panel include a Jumbo Retro Jabba the Hutt and Salacious Crumb along with the San Diego Comic-Con exclusive which will be a Droids version of R2-D2 to go along with the Celebration Anaheim C-3PO. Gentle Giant has also made a prototype 1:1 R2-D2 monument which was on display in the Droid Builders room.

Included in the presentation and at the booth were the new 2015 Premier Guild Membership items. Commander Faie will be a deluxe bust and we also found out that originally the Emperor Palpatine bust was going to be a holographic version of the character but was changed to fully painted after GG realized how detailed the sculpt was.

Gentle Giant mentioned that going forward the Jumbo line would feature “greatest hits” figures rather than continuing to make all of the classic Kenner figures in the new scale. This was backed up later in the panel when a question was asked to clarify this. There also seems to be the possibility that we could see some characters ship again and packed with a new card back. For example, Tatooine Luke Skywalker with a Return of the Jedi card back. No additional details on that were given.

There were a few non Star Wars items in the booth, including the new Jumbo Marvel Superhero figures but the only thing we took a picture of was the upcoming G.I. Joe Jumbo figures.  They had Rock ‘n Roll, Snake Eyes and Grunt on display.
