Unpainted Prototype R2-D2 From Sideshow

Back in December, Sideshow announced that they would be offering an unpainted prototype version of their 1:6 scale R2-D2 figure as a 2016 convention exclusive. Last night, with the newsletter, Sideshow posted the pre-order page for the new figure.

This limited edition R2-D2 is based on the same sculpt as Sideshow’s previous release and still features the light-up dome, articulated legs, and opening panels. There are no tool accessory arms with this release. R2-D2 also comes in a new display box.

Sideshow is giving the option of pre-ordering for pickup at San Diego Comic-Con or having the droid shipped to your home between July and August.  R2-D2 has an MSRP of $149.99 but there’s currently a 19% discount making him $120.  There are no payment plans or deposits required but there is a limit of one per person.

San Diego Comic-Con takes place the weekend of July 21-24, 2016.
