UK Toy Fair

The UK Toy Fair is going on this week in London and while there hasn’t been a lot of news out of Hasbro, there have been a couple of tidbits that are interesting.

The first is what appears to be a look at the new packaging we’ll be seeing later this year.  While the current Yoda graphics, with heavy green accents, can be found on the Class I vehicles and the upcoming Clone Wars figures, the cancellation of the Droid Factory figures left in question what would come next.  Thanks to Jedi News, photos from the UK Toy Fair show new Darth Vader graphics with a red Star Wars logo reminiscent of the Revenge of the Sith coloring.

The second thing that we found interesting was in a photo of an advertising piece showing the release dates of Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith in 3D later this year.  Included with those dates, in September and October respectively, are “3D re-release, episode to be confirmed 2014” and “3D re-release, episode to be confirmed 2015.”  The bottom of the advert has “Brand New Feature Films! 2015-19” written in bold.

Could that mean A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back will be coming in 2014 and Return of the Jedi in 2015, leading into the new film which is thought to be coming in July of 2015?  It sounds reasonable but it would be interesting to see the release of a 30 year old movie in 3D right before the hype of an all new film kicked in.

One thing that’s not clear from the advertisement is whether these dates would be applied worldwide or if they’re only for the UK releases.

If you were hoping to see a teaser of what Hasbro will be offering later this year, I’m afraid you’ll have to wait.  Hasbro didn’t display any new 3.75″ figures at the UK Toy Fair and said that we’d have to wait until New York Toy Fair kicks off next month.
