San Diego Comic-Con Star Wars Collectibles Panel

The Star Wars Collectibles Panel at San Diego Comic-Con just wrapped up and there are a few highlights from the participating license holders.

Gentle Giant

Both the Yoda statue and Animated Boba Fett maquette debuted this weekend are scheduled for a second quarter 2014 release.  The life-sized “vintage” Stormtrooper being shown will be available for pre-order in the next month.  The estimated pricing given had a big range, $1,500 – $2,500.

During the Q&A session at the end of the panel they did say that there would be more Ralph McQuarrie themed items in the future.

Kotobukiya

Koto has ARTFX statues of Jango Fett (August) and General Grievous (November) on tape for this year with the Sandtrooper 2-pack and Sandtrooper Squad Leader due in January.

Han Solo, Chewbacca, Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker, from their appearance in A New Hope, will be getting the ARTFX treatment for 2014.  The new Mara Jade bishoujo statue is also due in 2014 and a second run of the Jaina Solo statue will be coming later this year.

Koto also announced an exclusive ARTFX R2-Q5 astromech droid, limited to 2,000 pieces.  Half of that edition will be at New York Comic-Con this October, and will include a gold coin.  The other 1,000 pieces will be sold internationally with a silver coin.

eFX

eFX is celebrating five years of making Star Wars collectibles by introducing a new Legend Darth Maul lightsaber signed by Ray Park.  The lightsaber, as with the other items being show, was cast from a screen used prop.  Pre-orders for the lightsaber will begin in August.

Boba Fett’s helmet is coming, dented and everything.  The Legend Stormtrooper armor was cast from an original used in A New Hope and will be wearable.

Sideshow

Several recently offered Clone Troopers were mentioned during Sideshow’s part of the panel along with the new Darth Vader, which will feature a new body and light-up chest.

Other offerings in the 1:6 scale include a Probe Droid with sound, Jango Fett (with other Mandalorians planned), General Grievous (lots of accessories) and the Tauntaun which will come with two heads so you can have either Luke or Han’s mount.

The Premium Format R2-D2 and C-3PO will be shipping soon and the new Commander Cody is being shown off this weekend.  Cody will come with both Phase 1 & 2 helmets.

Sideshow is taking “go big or go home” to a new level with news of four new life-sized offerings, all from The Empire Strikes Back.  Teased were Yoda, Boba Fett, Darth Vader and a Han Solo in Carbonite.

Nothing new was announced, but Mythos fans shouldn’t be worried, Sideshow has plans for additional offerings in their newest statue scale.

Wrap-up

The final minutes of the panel included Q&A and information on Star Wars Celebration Europe II exclusives.

Chris Spitale, from Lucasfilm, spoke about a few of the CEII offerings such as the Death Star soccer ball and a beer stein and print featuring McQuarrie artwork.  Spitale also mentioned early work on a US Celebration VII, but no dates were announced (Note: we expect some type of announcement next week at Celebration Europe).
