Gentle Giant R2-KT MaquetteGentle Giant’s final San Diego Comic-Con announcement came yesterday in the form of a new R2-KT maquette.  The statue is priced at $80.00 and will be available at the show or if you’re a Premier Guild Member, you can pre-order one now to have it shipped after the convention.  The maquette is limited to 500 pieces.

Gentle Giant will be donating $10 from the sale of each R2-KT maquette to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

For those of you not familiar with R2-KT, she is an astromech designed and built to honor Katie Johnson, the daughter of 501st Legion founder Albin Johnson.  Katie passed away from cancer in 2005.  The real R2-KT droid still visits hospitals and charity events.
