Post-Christmas Clearance Begins

Now that Christmas has passed, stores are starting their year-end clearances which means savings for collectors looking to pick up what they may have passed on previously.  We took a look around a few of the local stores yesterday and found a few good buys.

Target

Target is always quick with the markdowns after Christmas and this year is no different. They had three different Lego sets on 30% clearance: 75094 Imperial Shuttle Tydirium and buildable figures 75108 Clone Commander Cody and 75107 Jango Fett.  Ninjago and Nexo Knights themes also had quite a few sets on discount and we spotted one DC superhero set with a clearance tag as well.

In the action figure aisle there were quite a few items all at 50% markdown, including Rey’s Nerf pistol and role play outfit by Hasbro. The Captain Phasma role play set was also marked down as was the large Bladebuilders Jedi Master Lightsaber set.  The Rogue One Death Star Micromachines set was discounted along with the 2-pack Galactic Heroes.  The Galactic Heroes sets were 30% off.  Rounding out the Hasbro offerings was Furbacca, also at 30% off.

Hot Wheels fans should be on the lookout for the Escape from Jakku set with the Millennium Falcon, 50% off.

Jakks Pacific Big-Figs, the 18″ scale, were 50% off and we spotted Rey, Finn, Death Trooper and C-3PO still available.

Air Hogs had several of their drones on clearance, most for 30% off, but if you want to go big, the Millennium Falcon was 50% off making it a more affordable $149.99.

Hallmark

All of the Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments were marked 50% off starting yesterday. We found the Rogue One Death Trooper and The Force Awakens Han Solo figures at our store but the rest of the Star Wars line was sold out. There were still several Marvel and DC ornaments available, including Wonder Woman, Batman, Superman, and the Batmobile. Both Captain America and Iron Man were on the shelf at our local store.

Barnes & Noble

We didn’t spot any Star Wars toys or collectibles on clearance at Barnes & Noble but did find two books from Del Rey; The New Essential Guide to Droids and Weapons & Technology.  They were marked at $12 and change but B&N were running a special where select items were tagged with a red circle sticker indicating a 50% discount from the sticker price which made each book $6.

Walmart

Walmart had a lot of Christmas and holiday items on sale but we didn’t find anything of note in the toy aisle that was marked as clearance. Walmart stores are more independent when it comes to clearance prices and they usually take a few days longer than other retailers to mark things down. We’ll keep an eye on the store to see if they discount any Lego or Hasbro product but everyone should be checking their local stores to see what can be found.
