Lego Buildable Galaxy Series
Although we don’t collect a lot of Lego sets anymore, any time a mini set comes out, bagged during a holiday or otherwise, we make sure to pick it up. We were big fans of the boxed mini line that ran from 2003 – 2004 and were really happy to see Lego bring back that scale this year with what they’re calling the Buildable Galaxy series.
Series 1 debuted in late January with three sets; Naboo Starfighter & Naboo (9674), TIE Interceptor & Death Star (9676) and Sebulba’s Podracer & Tatooine (9675). They’re priced at approximately $9.99 depending on which store you shop at, and include between 56 and 80 pieces. The planets are a fun addition and are good storage for your sets. The other twist on these versus the the previous mini sets is that each includes a minifigure.
We picked up the Naboo and Death Star sets and think they’re really fun. The ship builds are well done and represent the ships well. The inclusion of the mifigure is a nice touch and an easy way to add to your collection without buying a huge and sometimes expensive set. Series 2 has already been announced for later this year and includes X-Wing & Yavin, Twin Pod Cloud Car & Bespin and an AT-ST & Endor. Look for these now at stores such as Target, Walmart and Toys-R-Us.
