Notes: Titanium Line 2005-2009

The Titanium Series started in 2005 as a Walmart exclusive before being offered to all retailers in 2006.  Some vehicles that originally began as Walmart exclusives were later released to other retailers in their original packaging.  This is in addition to vehicles that were re-packed in later waves.

Variations

The Titanium line had multiple package variations including the style of the inserts, fonts, Titanium logos and the positioning of the vehicle in the bubble.  Unlike the basic figures, where there are distinct packaging changes, the Titanium line was much more subtle and, in some cases, there seemed to be transitional packaging, especially on the logos.  Information on the packaging variations was difficult to track due to sketchy store distribution.  The major vehicle updates are noted here but packaging isn’t.

While all re-paints are noted in the list, some vehicles received updated paint applications that depicted dirt, wear and battle damage. Those changes, since they were intentional, are listed with appropriate notations.  It should also be mentioned that several ships, such as the Republic Gunship and ARC-170, were released in later waves with similar paint schemes to their original release only with a darker grey base coat.  Updates of that nature are also listed with appropriate notations.

Ultra Line

The Ultra line of Titanium vehicles also started as a Walmart exclusive in 2005 before being offered to all retailers in 2006.  The packaging changed much more on the Ultra line than on the basic line where the form factor of the bubbles was more constant.  The Ultra line, due to poor sales, was pulled from general retail and the final wave of ships was released as a Toys-R-Us exclusive in 2007.

Titanium Series Figures

The Titanium Series of figures started in 2006 but is not included on this list at this time.  The line had poor retail sales and there were multiple cancellations towards the end of the line.  Some figures originally listed as cancelled may have seen limited release at some stores or outside the US.  Additional information will be added about that line when more research has been completed.

Battlestar Galactica

Hasbro obtained the license to produce ships based on the television show Battlestar Galactica in 2006.  The line released approximately 16 ships in parallel with the Star Wars line of ships, shipping in the same cases.  The line ended at the end of 2008 with at least one announced ship not being produced.  Currently the Battlestar Galactica ships are not included in this checklist and an additional list will be posted at a later date.

Transformers

Hasbro introduced 3″ non-transforming Titanium Transformers in 2006 that shared a SKU with the Star Wars line and both lines were stocked alongside each other at retail.  We don’t believe that the Transformers shipped in Star Wars cases like the BSG line did. The lines were split late in 2006 or early 2007 and the Transformers had their own SKU by the time the 2007 movie line was released.  The Transformers line ended sometime in 2008.  We have no plans of adding a checklist for the Transformers line of Titanium vehicles.

Notes on Black Series

In 2015, for the launch of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Hasbro brought back the Titanium line with a mix of previously released ships and new based on the new movie and the Rebels animated show. Hasbro also introduced the Black Series Titanium helmet collection and, for the 40th Anniversary in 2017, a line of 3.75″ Titanium figures.

Special Thanks

Special thanks to Andrew Marzka of the Pennsylvania Star Wars Collecting Society for his input on the Titanium Series checklist.

Notes: Black Series Titanium Line 2015-2017

With the launch of toys for Star Wars: The Force Awakens in September 2015, Hasbro released a new line of Titanium vehicles under the Black Series brand. The boxed ships were a mix of new vehicles for the movie and animated TV show, Star Wars Rebels, and reissued Titanium vehicles from the 2005-2009 line. The Black Series Titanium line released six waves of ships and one 4-pack over a two year period.

Along with the ships, Hasbro released four waves of Titanium helmet 2-packs and two waves of Titanium figures.

Variations

The main variation through the line was for Kylo Ren’s Command Shuttle. Initial releases of the ship featured a gray coloring. Starting in wave 4, the ship was updated to the correct black color seen in the movie. The box numbering stayed the same and this version was released through the final two waves of ships.

Of note, the first release of the Hot Wheels version of Kylo’s Shuttle was also done in gray. That was corrected to black later in the run. A second version of that shuttle exists that has tilt wings as seen in the movie. Hasbro didn’t update their Command Shuttle to include the tilt wings.

Helmet 2-Packs

The first three waves of helmet 2-packs were released to general retail. By the time wave four was due, many stores were no longer carrying them and they saw limited release. Wave four later showed up at discount retailers such as Five Below.

The final two 2-packs were released as store exclusives with Best Buy getting the Elite Praetorian Guard & First Order Flametrooper and GameStop receiving Luke Skywalker X-Wing & TIE Pilot.

A final 2-pack was shown at Toy Fair 2017 and included Scarif Stormtrooper & Blue Squad Pilot from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Unfortunately, this set was never released

Figures

In 2017, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Star Wars saga, Hasbro released two waves of Titanium action figures. The first wave featured characters from Star Wars: A New Hope and included a 40th Anniversary logo on the boxes.

The second wave dropped the 40th Anniversary logo and included characters from Star Wars: The Force Awakens

All of the figures had limited articulation and dynamic poses and included accessories such as “motion” blades for lightsabers. Each pack also included a stand with backdrop to display the figure. The stands could be attached to create a larger display.
