Hasbro Announces New Black Series And Return Of The Vintage Collection
Hasbro held a panel today at Star Wars Celebration where they took a look back at the early days of Kenner all the way through to the products they’re releasing now. Hosted by Amy Ratcliffe, the panel included discussions with the Hasbro team about how they came to be with Kenner, for Mark Boudreaux, and Hasbro. What lines they’ve worked on and what we’re going to see in the near future.
One of the big pushes will be the new Forces of Destiny line which is being worked on by Aditi Raturi. The figures will be articulated and come with fun accessories that compliment them. Several upcoming figures from the line are already on display at the Hasbro booth and an Ahsoka figure was featured during the panel.
After taking a look back, the team had some new announcements including two San Diego Comic-Con exclusives. New to the Black Series line will be Admiral Thrawn, which was debuted yesterday, and he’ll also be at SDCC with exclusive packaging that has additional accessories in the form of his “museum.” The new Luke and Landspeeder will also receive and exclusive SDCC release in a huge window display box.
At regular retail, look for Grand Moff Tarkin and Jaina Solo. In order to come up with a likeness for Jaina, the sculptors combined Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher. Both figures were added to the Hasbro booth after the panel, as you can see above. GameStop will have an exclusive Inferno Squad TIE Fighter pilot from the new Battlefront II game.
The final announcement of the panel is that the Vintage Collection will return in the Spring of 2018. We didn’t get a photo but Hasbro showed off a Rey on vintage style card back.
