That’s No Moon

The White House has a page where petitions can be created by the public and each petition that receives 25,000 signatures will receive a statement from the administration.  Back in November, a petition was started to have the US build a Death Star.  The petition quickly received over 34,000 signatures.

The response was swift; no Death Star for the US.  However, the writer, Paul Shawcross, penned a very funny and informative response titled “This Isn’t the Petition Response You’re Looking For.”

We highly recommend heading over and reading it because Shawcross’ response, which could have been overly formal and serious or patronizing, instead, is balanced with just the right amount of snark and geek references.  He also makes a good case for why science should be more important to our education; cause if you do want to build that Death Star, you’re gonna need to know how.
