New Zealand Mint Offers Series 2 Silver Coins

In 2011, the New Zealand Mint offered three sets of silver coins featuring Star Wars character art.  We featured an article and photos of the set of 10 single coins back in December and noted that the Mint intended to do a series of 40 coins.

Last night we received notice that four Series 2 coins are now being offered for sale.  Series 2 consists of Yoda, Queen Amidala, Anakin Skywalker and Darth Maul, all from their appearance in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.

The set can be ordered in either a Millennium Falcon or Darth Vader case, with sound effects, for $499.00.  The coins are limited to 7,500 of each coin and are schedule for an October release.  If you recall, the coins are legal tender on the island of Niue and carries a face value of $2.00.

For a limited time, if you order one of the Series 2 sets, you’ll also receive a limited edition set of four gold plated coins featuring Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Princess Leia and R2-D2.
