About

Imperial Holocron began as a basic collecting blog, with very infrequent updates, in 2004. We ran that way until late 2005 when a concerted effort was made to turn the collecting blog into a news website, mainly following the collecting hobby surrounding the Star Wars Saga.

We gained momentum through the Spring of 2006, covering Toy Fair with reports on Hasbro, Gentle Giant and Sideshow along with other, smaller license holders. In June of 2006 the current domain name, ImperialHolocron.com, was registered and new graphics and layout were applied.

Throughout 2006 we continued to add news coverage of various events such as Wizard World Philadelphia and San Diego Comic-Con. Our “Around Town” feature on local collectibles became the semi-regular “Around the Toy Aisle” feature where we offer a snapshot of what collectible toys, not just Star Wars, are available at the local, and sometimes not so local, retail stores.

Continuing a tradition started in 2001 on the PSWCS listserv, we offer a Best and Worst feature at the end of each year where we re-cap various Star Wars collectibles and events that we feel deserve recognition, or derision as the case may be.

Moving forward, we continue to cover events such as Toy Fair, Wizard World, Comic-Con and the Star Wars Celebrations as well as other events as they occur. We will be moving into our fifth year in June 2010 and hope continue covering Star Wars collecting in all its forms.

Re Celebration Art – we’re on way from England on an expensive, possibly once in a life time trip and the art section was some thing we were looking forward to…So far all that has been previewed has been average.

I agree on the “average” assessment. I’m not blown away by any one piece in the Art Show this year, nothing made my “must have” list. I’m probably skipping all of them, but I do hope The Art of Ralph McQuarrie has something similar to Celebration V, something not announced as part of the Art Show.
