Hasbro Re-issuing Vintage Collection in 2013

Hasbro has issued a press release with information about Vintage Collection figures that will be coming back in 2013.  They’re releasing 23 figures for the US market, covering mostly recent releases but also including early 2011 characters such as Han Solo, Barriss Offee and Bom Vindin.

While the Gamorrean Guard and other popular army builders such as the 501st Clone Trooper and Rebel Fleet Trooper are also included, there’s no sign of the Imperial Navy Commander or Echo Base Trooper.  There’s also no sign of the popular EU characters, Darth Malgus and Bastila Shan.  Ponda Baba, who originally shipped with the Echo Base Trooper and Bastila Shan, and is also hard to find, is absent from the list.

While this is a nice gesture, it would have been better if they’d skipped the relatively easy to find 2011 figures (Bom Vimdin, Han Solo, Barriss Offee) and instead included the three figures from the Bastila Shan wave and possibly some of the final wave figures which aren’t seeing release at retail in the US at all (Emperor’s Royal Guard, Republic Trooper, Nien Nunb, Lumat, etc).

STAR WARS VINTAGE FIGURE LINE: U.S. REGION UPDATE

Great news, STAR WARS action figure fans!  Hasbro will be re-issuing “fan favorites” from the popular VINTAGE line.  We heard fans loud and clear, and as such only the “best of the best” characters from previously released waves will be featured in the revived line.  The new series of VINTAGE figures will be available starting in early February 2013.  Distribution of characters may vary by location and is not controlled by Hasbro, so please check your local retailer for your favorite characters around that time.

Characters to be featured in the line include the following inthe U.S. market:

  • Episode VI Luke Skywalker (Lightsaber Contruction) – Deleted Scene figure
